A Special Day!

Saturday, we had our first big snow of the season. We didn't even realize the snow was coming until the day before, and we thought we were only supposed to receive an accumulation of 1-3 inches.
We woke up Saturday to a winter wonderland, and watched as huge flakes continued to fall late into the morning. We ended up with about 6 inches of snow!

The snow finally let up enough that we headed over to the sledding hill at Blanchette Park to have a little fun. Eddy and the kids enjoyed sledding and I watched and took pictures (gotta keep baby safe).

Ready for their first ride down the hill.
Woo-hoo!
Luke doesn't seem too sure.

On the way to the park Janna had seen one of her preschool friends out in his yard (Carson), so we stopped by on the way home to say hi. We enjoyed hot chocolate and chatting with the Izos while we warmed up and the kids played.
After heading home for lunch and Luke's nap, we headed back outside with Janna to make a snowman, and an "igloo." She asked for an igloo, but after seeing how difficult it was to make one with enough room for her inside she agreed to a tunnel. In case you weren't sure, it's a lot of work to build things with snow! Especially, an igloo big enough for even Janna. However, our neighbor (who works in construction), came up with a crafty way to construct a fort. Everyone had fun creating things with the snow.

Snowman!
Someone's coming...
Made it through the tunnel!

After resting a bit, we headed up to church for Journey to Bethlehem! This was our first time helping out. The church had childcare for the kids. They got to play, eat dinner there, and even get their jammies on and lay down to a movie! Eddy and I were inn keepers in Bethlehem, the last stop before seeing the Messiah! We had a fun time.

Needless to say, we were all exhausted at the end of the day, but it was a special day together (and also the 12th anniversary of our first date!).
