A couple days ago, Eddy and I were saying 'hi' to Janna and she repeated the word. This was fun and exciting (a new spoken word) so we kept up a little game of saying 'hi' back and forth for a bit. Then I got to thinking about what words Janna can say and sign. [A big thanks to Mom for getting Janna started on signing. Signs are so helpful in communicating with Janna when she wouldn't otherwise be able to tell us what she wants/needs.] Here's the line-up of Janna's vocabulary: Spoken words-dada, mama, shoes, tickle, hi; Signed words-please, thank you, eat, more, finished, milk, out/outside, play, light, bath, sleep, where (although the sign we've been using actually means 'what') phone/call, also waves 'hi' and 'bye'; Sounds-woof woof (dog), Rarrr (bear).
Currently we've been trying to teach her pretty/beautiful, and bird.
Two of her favorite signs are 'out' (which she does all day long, she loves to be outside) and 'light' (anytime a light comes on she goes to town with that sign). It's so much fun to see her repeat a sign for the first time and you know that the connection has registered and she knows what she's communicating.

This was a cool and interesting post to me, since Lailey has really been talking and signing a lot lately. In fact, I had to go look up bath and phone to find out the exact signs since I wasn't sure. Phone was pretty obvious, but I don't think I've ever learned "bath." So, Janna's expanding my signing vocab. too!
