Christmas Surprise

After agreeing to not get each other gifts this year, Eddy was a bit sneaky and did some behind the scenes planning. He surprised me with a trip to Charleston while we were down South! Hailing from GA, it may surprise some to find that I'd never been to Charleston before. We left the day after Christmas and spent two nights in Charleston. I was excited to take in the sights, history, and food! After arriving in Charleston, we ate at a little place called Toast! and then relaxed at the hotel while watching a movie.
The next day we got up and prepared to explore the city. We wanted to do a Harbor Tour, but missed the boat by moments. I can't walk quite as fast as normal these days. ;) Unfortunately, they cancelled all their later tours for December. Perhaps, it's too 'cold.' We ate lunch at a place called The Brown Dog Deli. Best. Sandwiches. Ever. We strolled down Market Street and checked out some of the local items for sale. Then we bought tickets for a carriage ride that included a guide and history. While waiting for our ride, we indulged in some delicious ice cream...Cookies and Cream for Eddy of course, Sea Salt Caramel and Chocolate for me. Mmmm! Our ride included some great history about some of the local homes, churches, and government buildings, as well as a ride by Rainbow Row.
After, our carriage ride, we drove over to Folly beach for the sunset, then headed back to the hotel for a bit. We got a quick bite for dinner at Waffle House, and then went to see Catching Fire. A wonderful day!!!
Saturday, we got up and headed back to ATL.
